9/2/2012 Jackson County, GA Siren Hunt

Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:12 pm

Today, My dad and I went on another siren hunt. We went to Commerce, Talmo, Jefferson, and Pendegrass, in Jackson counties. I cant really think of anything to type, so, here are the pictures!

Sterling in Downtown Jefferson. I am not exactly sure of the designation, but I think it is an M-10.

Whelen Vortex in Pendegrass. This thing is LOW!

Whelen Vortex outside of Jefferson. I'm suspecting this one is new because it doesn't have the fin on it and there is no mold or rust or anything like that.

Well, this was the result of Today's siren hunt! Enjoy the pictures. Any comments or information would be appreiciated. :)

I have an Excel document of some of the locations in Jackson County. You were literally 20 minutes from me. Jackson County tests the sirens the first Wed. of the month at 11 AM. Glad someone finally got these things. Most of them are just feet off the ground!

Hope it's ok to bump this topic. I was at Peak Rehabilitation today in Jefferson and there's a wooded area to the 11:00 position where they have placed a new siren. I almost wonder if the last picture in the above topic is it. They have INCREDIBLE coverage. The M10 on top of the bank is also gone, it was removed shortly after you took that photo.

I had a drive crash and can't find the Excel document with all of the siren locations.

The bump's fine. What, exactly, is the new siren? Do you have pictures of it? I know the sterling's gone. I was told by the city of Jefferson that it is going to be refurbished and used as a fire siren.

It looks to be a finless Vortex. I couldn't zoom in to snap a picture of it on my phone. It's also mounted on one of those funky towers they use.

Was it by chance the one behind the Tool Rental place?

Theres a tool rental place next to peak rehabilitation. Harco equipment rental. That's the building is behind. Kinda in the patch of wood back behind both buildings.

It's been there since at least 2012. It's in the bottom photo.
