Gatlinburg Trip Sirens

So I'm finally getting around to posting this! Anyway, for Spring break me and my family went to Gatlinburg and Oak Ridge.

Gatlinburg, TN

This siren is located by the water treatment plant at the south end of Gatlinburg:

This one was up by the Laurel Inn. Spotted it from the space needle. This was a nice find!

Oak Ridge

ACA Alertronic RE-6000:

This is one of two RE's that are on a separate system than the rest of Oak Ridge, and therefore does not have a T-121 or 135 next to it. (I did, however, see an RE-6000 in the town of Oak Ridge with a T-121 next to it)

Those Whelen's are 4000-4's, not Vortex's. You can tell 2 ways. First, the rotator motor is horizontal on the housing. Vortex's have a square housing with no protrusion. Second, the control cabinet has 2 doors on it. Vortex's have a single door with a Whelen emblem right in the middle, as opposed to the bottom door.

They are very old Whelen 4004s, the first ones. If you look carefully at the shape of the array you can see that it is designed like their earlier WS/WPS 3016 sirens. They both have screens that fit to the front and sport a "X." It probably uses the same controller.

Yep. They do indeed use the older ESC-864 controls.

Yep. They even use the higher pitched tone, not common for the 4000s. One would suspect these are some of the first made.

There's a siren in downtown Gatlinburg that looks to be of an old GSC 2 or 5, I wanna say flat topped and not a cone....something in that nature anyhow. I thought it was an old fire station or something but search results never really came out how I wanted. What picture is that you mentioned me in? I didn't know there was yet another siren.

About the Oak Ridge Siren System. The first older siren is called an ACA Alertronic 6000/ASC RE-1600. The second I believe is an ACA AL-/Alertronic 12000. Do you have locations for those sirens? Certainly glad to know some of the older system still remains. But I do wish I could get a rare AL-12000.

According to FanFan61618, who has family up in Oak Ridge, the last AL-12000 was removed recently.
