Federal Model 28 Siren Restoration

Here's a few before and after pictures of the Federal Model 28 siren that I've been restoring!! I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. One of the bearings was starting to seize and was difficult to turn to I just soaked it in PB Blaster and repacked it and it turns great now! I'll eventually take a video of it running and upload it to YouTube!!

For whatever reason (Probably rust), on mine the front grille wont come off. I took out all the screws. Any ideas? ( Sorry if this sounds noobish, but I'm still an amateur!)

There is no noobish questions, I have been there and always found someone willing to help. The grill is made of brass, the stator of aluminum, 2 dissimilar metals + moisture and you get oxidation and corrosion. Try bumping the edge of the grill with a hard wood or plastic "tool". Work your way around the edge and see if you can get it to move. You might also try some penetrating oil such as PB Blaster to help loosen it up. It will come off, just be careful as the brass is somewhat soft.

I was able to use WD-40 to un-bolt heavily-rusted brass horns from a junked semi truck. That should do the trick for this.

I'm glad you guys like it!! The only thing I have done to it lately was mount it to a wooden base. Here's a couple more pictures of my Model 28..

Looks awesome! I hope you can record a video of it going off. I mounted my Model B on a wood base as well. I hope to get a video of it, but I've been so busy, It's impossible.
