The Siren Board

Well, the build of my 1976 Thunderbolt 1000AT has just started, officially. It all started when I got the horn from fellow board member Ed Wise. The horn came from Catawba nuke plant in SC.


Then I cleaned it...


Today (5/27/13), I bought essientally a whole Tbolt from Will T. (TNT1001 on here) for 100 bucks. After 2 hours of looking at his Tbolt, and loading up mine, most of it came home.


Later today, I should be getting the Blower, Blower motors, and the extra horn. So, This thread I started will be used to post updates on the build, and answer or ask questions.

In case anyone cares, here are the places the parts came from:
Manchester, GA (3 Phase 1962 unit)
Springfield, IL (3 Phase 1974 unit)
York, SC (unknown phase 1970's unit according to Ed Wise)

Good luck with that Springfield blower. It was more than a pain to try and get moving.

Yeah. That thing is going to be a nightmare. If all fails, at least I got around 100 bucks in copper.

Sorry for bumping my own thread, but here's a progress update. I got the horn and chopper assembly together.

I suggest going ahead and bolting that rotator base to a pallet, then building it up.

I may do that. I was also planning on putting it on the blower.

Me and a neighbor got the blower together tonight. Here is a photo of it now. I also bolted together the rotator assmebly, and the head, as stated earlier.


I'm sure it will be done soon.

Thanks a bunch, man! I may keep it in the "been there done that" look, just because refinishing costs a ton.

I'll tell you you aren't kidding paint and stuff is very high these days.
