The poor Model 500SH TT siren in Dundee, Michigan is out of service. Apparently, the siren has suffered a failure of some sort, and they are seeing if it can be repaired or not. Here is more information about the siren.

I'm sure it will be just fine. Besides, it will be properly taken care of if it can't. Probably on display or something similar.

While it is down they should probably reinstall the belts correctly so it isn't rotating at like 10 RPM.

It was done by a guy in Perrysburg, Ohio that did all the siren work for Lime City Fire Equipment & Repair. He's their siren tech.

Wonder if that drive belt that comes off the gearbox broke. It's a PITA to change.

That's what I am thinking. Usually a second generation Model 500 series siren doesn't spin this freely. I suspect the belt is broken, or gearbox has flown south. Gear reducers shouldn't be too hard to find since they are the same ones used on the Thunderbolt. Hopefully they know to go to WSS to find some junked out Thunderbolts to pick parts from.
