CLM under full power

Wed Sep 25, 2013 6:47 am

After a bit of a digital camera learning process, I was able (I think) to upload a couple of CLM test videos.
The siren is 220v 3phase, and is running off of a welder plug at the shop.
Attack is by manually switching on/off at the power box.
Test 1 was filmed by a co-worker on a hand held camera as the tripod mounted one was set in "still frame" mode and did not record the test.
Test 2 was done with tripod mounted camera set farther away, and no other people present.
If we run it up again before putting it back in storage, I would like to place the camera much farther away for some ambiance

If the imbeds don't work, search for "OyVing1" , "CLM Test 1" , "CLM Test 2" on YouTube
What on earth are you going to do with THAT?

Congratulations! The first full power CLM run on the Internet! It seems to be like an STH/STL-10 with the wind down.

Neat! Sounds like a 3T22 with it's bottom damper halfway closed!

I was just thinking that. I used to live across the Ottawa River from one. Sounded once or twice a week for a run in attack mode. I'm pretty sure they don't use it any more, other than for weather purposes.

I love the video though, it's nice to finally hear one going full steam.

EPIC wind-down there. Sounds damned healthy to have such free-rotating bearings! (I wonder if around 3:00 is what it sounded like to be near one of the CLMs with the "winterization" option that had them "idle" at 50 rpm instead of ever shutting down...)

I've definitely never heard of such thing.
