Hamlin County South Dakota Requesting Siren Upgrade

Fri Dec 06, 2013 11:36 pm

Hamlin County SD is going for a upgrade after towns said there were problem with the old CD era sirens.
We at Sioux Notification Solutions are looking into this project on our own & we think we got it mapped out.

The towns will need about 10 units going about 121dB(C) on a preferred AC/DC 2-way set up and around Lake Poinsette is gonna require about 12 sirens with an 128dB(C) -130dB(C) level.
This has been in the making for well over a decade and should have been preformed back in 1999 when grants were highly available.

Are you an actual business doing this work or are you just phrasing it like that for humor?

That's so cool! I can't wait to hear more. Sounds like an ASC job given the details you provided ;-)

well we got everyone ASC, ATI, FS, SSI, & Whelen involved so the CEMD knows what his options are.
We (SiouxNotifications) prefer the whole thing be omni-directional

ok I see that your not finding any intel on Sioux Notification Solutions reason is were still listed by our old business name of Dakota Public Safety, & since our insurance rates are sky high I decided to change the company name from Dakota Public Safety to Sioux Notification Solutions based out of Sioux Falls.

As for the Upgrade yes this will be our 1st major project in outdoor warning but its not the only one we've done, for reasons we will not disclose our customers names nor towns unless they say its ok.

we give our customers privacy if they wish to or not be used for references for other customers, this is something that many of my customers like as an option and if they opt out then I am obligated to keep my mouth shut on whom they are, so far they all opted out.

This article here here states that the lake would require only four sirens. Also this article from the LPADA (scroll down to the Oct. 7th listed April LPADA meeting minutes) makes it seem like the lake is the ONLY entity purchasing sirens as it says the county really can only afford one themselves for the lake. The managing entity at the meeting said and I quote, "he and Dave Schaefer have been working with Danko Emergency Equipment to get 4 emergency storm whistles to be placed around the lake. They will be doing some testing in April with boom trucks to see where the best locations are to place the whistles. The first priority is the state park because of all the campers that tare there in the summer months.." Unless you are affiliated with Danko Emergency Equipment I suggest you explain this....
