Model 500SH-TT in Searcy County, Arkansas?

Fri Apr 04, 2014 1:15 am

I was listening to a Skywarn net in Northern Arkansas a while ago via a Web feed, when one of the stations was keying up in Searcy County, and you could hear a 10/12 port siren in the background. As I was listening to him give a report about the approaching storm, you could hear the siren in the background go up and down in volume, sounding like it was rotating. This makes me think there is a Model 500SH-TT in that area. Does anyone have an insight as to what sirens they use in that county?

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

There are supposedly a bunch of Whelens there according to the siren testing thread.

Don't get this confused with the city of Searcy, AR. The city has Whelen Vortex's as recorded by Bryan a while back. Could not find any videos or sirens from Searcy County after a brief search.

I just ran a quick sweep through Marshall and Leslie. Both towns had nothing that I could find. I don't think this county has an organized siren system at all, actually.

Ian and I were looking last night. Marshall has a couple 2T22s (Factory Rd and School St, College St and Center St.) and a Sentry 16V1T-B (Cedar St and Hamilton Dr).
