Thunderbolt Blower Questions

I have a few questions about the late model Thunderbolt A2 blowers.

1- What were the time frames that Federal used the size 5 and size 4 blowers?
2- Were all of the blowers medium pressure (xM) or did Federal also use the low and high pressure?
3- What were the inlet and outlet sizes of the size 4 blower on the late model A2s?

Let's see here:

All tbolt blowers were medium pressure units

The 4M took over in the late sixties. 5M was used from the early sixties to 67 or 68.

4M blowers (late A2 and c-series) had 2.5" inlets and outlets.
5M blowers had 3" in/out
6M blowers had 6" in/out

Thanks Jeb! Was the late A2 4M horizontal or vertical (I know the C series was vertical)? Also did Federal use a reducer from 3" to 2-1/2 NPT?

The late A2 in the A series was horizontal. Just like the 5 and 6M. The B and the C were Vertical. (The B series was right?) They are all medium pressure units but ran at a VERY low RPM compared to what they can run (I talked to a distributor.) Pretty much most contractors that have a medium pressure blower use the Sutorbilt legend series.

The late A2 in the A series was horizontal. Just like the 5 and 6M. The B and the C were Vertical. (The B series was right?)

I thought the B series were the ones that had the offset rotator...

Yea they do. I wasn't sure if they also had the vertical blower or not.

Yes the vertical blower was introduced on the B series.

On the A2 blowers they used a reducing elbow on the outside of the blower frame.
