Dallas/Fort Worth siren hunt.....well sort of

Tue Jul 22, 2014 10:44 pm

It's quit amazing what you can find while on vacation. I found that out back in April when i was in the Dallas?fort Worth area for the Birthday of one of my relatives on my dads side of the family. And what started as a day out with my dad checking out a few of the museums in Dallas and Frisco, turned into my first Siren hunt!

somewhere between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Live's near a t-bolt when younger and was afraid of them, years later actively searches for them......Is there something wrong with me?

That's an exhaust fan. We have three of those on one building here in Huntsville.

That P50 is in Euless.
That control cabinet in the DFD museum is the radio cabinet. They put the old timer on top of it when they removed it
and installed the last radio system they used on the thunderbolts.

When I was there about 8 years ago we tried to find the RCM but the museum guy didn't know where it was.

I didn't even know there was a Texas Fire Museum. I'll have to go check that out.
That's interesting. That's an original 1959 installation. I guess that maintenance shop is 50s vintage.
I just looked at the old Dallas CD Plan siren map and it lists that siren's location at Fire Station 16 2616 Chalk Hill Road. Hmmmm.....
Station 16 is next door to the maint. shop. I guess they got the location mixed up.
Proud owner of a garage full of junk.
