Any max ranges?

Tue Nov 04, 2014 3:14 am

Hello! I'm trying to collect the max audible distances for sirens.

Not possible. You can get estimated 70 and 60 db ranges on cut sheets (based on flawed math of course). But besides the fact that the range of siren is going to be based on topography, geography, and surrounding buildings, even larger problem is how would you define "max range?" The point at which a siren could no longer be heard? That would be dependent on an individual's hearing.

In other words, there's no answer to your question

How would you find the 70db range?

You may be standing in the same location, and hear a distant siren one day, and the next day not hear it at all. Too many factors, some of which change every second.
