Rotor damage

Before reassembly of my STH-10 siren, I was checking out the rotor and noticed a few notches in the chopper. Looks like something got in there and banged around a bit. Is this something to be concerned about? Doesn't appear to be any cracks besides the chip. Just don't want it flying apart. Looks like I will be getting this thing installed soon!

You should be fine since that is a rather large, thick piece of metal that IS NOT rotating.....if your concerned about how it looks to the eye, sand it down, use some auto body filler,prime and paint. You do need to investigate and find out, if you can, what was banging around loose in there and make sure that it does not happen again.....looks like a loose bolt or nut, perhaps.

It is the rotating piece that connects to the motor shaft. It probably was damaged in shipping. I don't think it would be a problem, just wanted a second opinion.

I stand corrected........I sometimes forget which parts spin and which don't....
Since there is damage to a rotating piece, my main concern would be it being out of balance....unequal weight.
Any way to check for a woble or vibration at speed?

It'll be fine. Looks like a casting flaw to me, notice the big void?
