AR timer question

Mon Feb 16, 2015 4:03 am

Hi all

Hope all is well. I was wondering, I am trying to connect my AR timer to a motor starter I have for my Model 2 siren. I have terminal 1 on the AR going to terminal 3 on the motor starter and terminal 2 on the AR going to L1 on the motor starter. I have 220v running thru the starter. When I activate the AR Alert button it activates the contacts on the starter but it does not hold it after I let go of the alert button. When I hit attack button I get nothing, no contact at all.

Do I have the AR wired correctly? I am using 120v to power the AR and when I do activate either alert or attack the cams rotate. It just does not activate the contactors on the starter correctly. I have looked at the siren manual and all it says is connect terminals 1 and 2 on the AR to 3 and L1 respectively on the motor starter along with connecting terminals 8 and 9 on the AR for 120v power for the AR.

Am I missing something?

Thanks again guys

Chris

If using the AR standalone (without a siratrol etc..) check and make sure that there is a jumper between terminals 15 & 16. There should also be one between 6 & 13.

Hi stormsetter4

I have been looking at FS service manual for the model 2 and was wondering there are some differences between your diagrams and the FS manual for the AR timer connections: I was mainly looking at terminal 2 connection and 1. Here is an attachment:::

Is there any differences?

and I was looking at terminal 9 connection back to starter motor on yours. It does not show these connections on the FS manual...also the jumper between 2 and 8 is not shown in the FS manual. Per the FS manual 2 goes back to the starter motor. I am just wondering why are there differences between your diagram and the FS manual? I am just curious that's all and want to better understand this.

Thanks Stormsetter4!!!
