Oswego, New York-Nuclear Warning Siren Map (not mine)

Tue Feb 17, 2015 2:35 am

I found this map today and thought I'd share it with you guys. It's not mine, and I credit (and thank) whomever made it, maybe Mantis or Ian Tate. Although it is not compete, it certainly covers about more than half of the 37 siren network (Thunderbolts-1003As, 1000BTs; an oddball STH-10A).
Enjoy! I added a few photos to show the ugly color they're painted (auto-enhance on the iPhone works wonders with street view)

Hah, that's the map I made a while back after I tagged along with dad on a work trip up near there and stumbled upon a couple of their Thunderbolts while out driving around. I actually kind of forgot I started that one, meant to try and finish it but I'm sure something probably came up and I got distracted. (as usual... #lifewithADD )

By the way, anybody that wants to look around for (or knows of) any other locations in the system just let me know and I can probably add you onto it as a contributor or something. Or if not that, post any locations here and I can add them in just the same.

Interesting, I just kinda looked up older posts and tried to come up with something, but then I just googled "Nine Mile siren locations" and came across it. I would be more than willing to help. I think that since there were 13 identified and 37 in the system, there should be a few left (I got a few locations as well). I never would've caight that STH-10! I thought it was a mistake at first, but I saw the antennas used on all of the thunderbolts, so that was a little...odd

I don't think they are now, since I think Richard Roe said the new system is up. They could be though, but they are rarely ever tested, and it's an individual test from my understanding.
