AF and AR timer question

Wed Feb 25, 2015 5:02 am

Hi Guys

I have two quick questions with regards to my AF and AR timers. With regards to my AR timer. I have it connected to my starter motor (stand alone operation, no radio) when I hit alert or test it works great. But when I hit attack, the relay chatters or vibrates hard and then release as normal when in attack mode. It should fully engage the relay to a solid hold no chatter until the timer releases the relay. Any ideas on this? maybe a bad component on the AR? I have tested with another AR same setup, and in attack it works fine no relay chatter. So I would guess something is not right with this particular AR (bad component or something along those lines)

Question 2 ....for my AF timer (standalone setup) connected again to my relay starter motor, all works great, alert, attack, fire, but the test button does not work. I tried two other AF timers and I get the same results, test button does not work. My guess would be a setting or jumper within the AF needs to be set. Any ideas?

thanks guys
Chris

Take a picture of the inside and clearly show the terminals. I had similar problems with my AF and managed to figure them out. I may be able to help you.

Sounds like the test button is bad. Remove power from the timer and check it with a meter set to ohms on the two terminals on the back of the switch. If it reads nothing when you press the switch it's bad.

The test switch bypasses everything inside the timer and completes the circuit itself, which means it's subject to the full load of whatever the timer is hooked too. They have been known to burn out and wear out.
