Fairfax County VA siren system?!

Tue Mar 17, 2015 7:14 pm

I've been informed by a resident of Fairfax County that they have a system now. He's told me it consists of Modulators (1st and 2nd gen) and DSAs, all dual tone and tested in high-low. (He has also said his city owns/operates 2902s on existing ESC-864s set to dual tone.) Upon double checking these fourms, as well as the Fairfax County website, I found that they do not think sirens are efficient and that money is an issue. Can someone from the area verify that they don't have sirens?

Does said resident have any photos or videos of the purported system? I know there is a non-county Whelen that's been caught on camera in the Seven Corners area once or twice through the years - nobody's 100% sure where it is. To my knowledge that is the only active siren in the county.

I do have to wonder where he's getting the 2902/864 identification from. It's rare enough to see 2800s with them...
