Thunderbolt prototype? That is very cool, and may be the earliest thunderbolt ever seen!

WHOA! Put that in its own thread. Do you see what that is?!

THATS THE PROTOTYPE T-BOLT SUSPECTED NOT TO EXIST.

Note the rounded blower and rotator covers.

Is that a relief valve on top of the chopper cap?

Heh, I was wondering how long before somebody else would find this and post it. What's even cooler is the man at the right of that primitive RCM setup is none other than the "father" of the Thunderbolt (and many other early Federal siren designs) himself, Earl Goswiller. I believe the man to his left beside the controls is the assistant Civil Defense director for Minneapolis, if I recall correctly. It would really be something if this early prototype still existed, but the chances of that being true are slim to none.

Looks like he has the chopper hooked up to a variac. Guess they were showing off its abilities to run at various pitches.

Does anybody know where this picture was taken? In the background, i see a tower that looks like the foshay Tower (an early tower in Minneapolis).
