North Shore Sirens

Wed Apr 01, 2015 3:12 am

This weekend, my family went up to the north shore of lake superior. Very scenic! I HAD to take some pics so here we go:

**this is my first time using Flickr, so tell me if i did something wrong.**

Here is the proctor golf course SD-10 and STH-10. They are inactive. Very low mounted. (the building is on a hill i think)

Here is a Model 5 and a Model 2 in Beaver bay, MN. looks like there was a fire truck in the building, so must be the local fire dept. I dont know if there active.

Nice photos! The Federal Signal Model 5 makes the Model 2 look tiny!

Nice to see that these pair of sirens are still in place! I have not seen the ones from the proctor golf course or the ones in Beaver Bay in a very long time! I am glad to see them still up.

Nice pics, looks like the door to the building that the SD-10 and STH-10 were on was open, see any controls?

Why is the SD-10 and STH-10 pair inactive? I'm curious

Was one siren there to replace the other?

When I was up there last, there was a Vortex across the street near a gas station, so I suppose they were deactivated when the new system went up throughout the Duluth metropolitan area. But one. could have very well replaced the other at one point and was never taken down.
