Whelen Firehouse series sirens

Thu Apr 23, 2015 4:41 pm

I like how they take the same sirens and just re brand them for firehouses.

Calling Dennis Clark, calling Dennis Clark...
I'm sure there's some difference. Notice how they cut off at the 4-cell.

The firehouse and the omni alert are what I'm comparing here. They both do that

From what I can tell from the cut sheets, the difference is in the activation systems. The sirens themselves are the same, up to 4 cells, no voice. The Omni Alert is available with a UHF or VHF radio activation system. Either one way or 2 way activation. So you can use DTMF, Two-tone sequencial. Or 2 way, either 2 way DTMF or FSK. These are also available for the firehouse sirens, but you can also add Plectron or trunking system activation. So far that is the only main difference I see.

They run on Type I panels, so they are restricted to four drivers like the Vortex R4 and OmniAlert OA4.

Just like the omni alert. They are in a way re-branding their own product

The Omni Alert Sirens are tone only and come with no options (other than radio of course).
The Fire House is the Omni Alert with the addition of the Auxiliary control board. This adds wired inputs for contact closures to activate the tones.

So i know Whelens can be tripped in multiple ways, but can they be tripped by pagers/motorola scanners? I would imagine the firehouse series would be able to be, and also I love the rebranding of the Omni alert 1-4's xD
