Onondoga nation fire departments STH-10A

Tue Jun 16, 2015 2:00 am

well im up here for the week in New York and learned that they took this beauty down and tore down the old station
a friend of mine on the reservation said they are reinstalling her on the new building and i got to get up close and personal with the first siren i ever recorded. To others who get to have this experience all the time this might be nothing but this is a first for me :D

ID. tag and it does say that's its indeed three phase must've been on 208VAC and that's why it sounds so sluggish

Thanks for sharing! I didn't know this until now! Do you know where the new station will be?
It's funny that you had your picture taken with that siren, I had mine with the nearby Fayetteville 2T22A:

new station is already built but i dont know where they plan to mount it. my buddy said they might mount it on the back of the new station its still where i took the picture at if you want to go see it
the tag says its indeed three phase so im guessing its powered by 208VAC three phase power ill take a pic of the new fire department
and post it here too eventually ive been busy working on the reservation and i just finished my first job today

hoping my dad will take me siren hunting when we have downtime

i just looked at the name plate what does the "Code K" mean? and what kind of three phase motor is it? i can identify sirens but am still a bit iffy with the parts and such. the horse power isnt etched in either wonder why?

The motor on it is a 7.5 horsepower, two-pole Marathon Electric motor. The "K" code on the plate indicates the motor's locked rotor (or "LR") rating. In this case, the "K" signifies that this motor is capable of producing anywhere from 8.00 to 8.99 horsepower during "locked rotor" conditions, or in other words when the motor is starting off from a complete stop. I suppose you could look at it as a method of measuring how powerful an electric motor is on startup as compared to its nominal full load horsepower rating.

Actually the LR code is how many kva per horsepower the motor pulls during startup.
