I know before 1958, because that is when they became Sign And Signal.
Ripe old age of 26.
1950 Model A, 1979 AF Timer, 30 something ID tags, some other odds and ends

This is why I was asking. I was able to make the deal and get this one home today. From what I was told it is off of the original Wilmot Fire House that was built in 1942. The guy I got it from had it in storage for the last 15 years.

Very nice! That ID tag is very clean! My Model J is from the "Federal Enterprises" era, and I may have deciphered the ID tag, and the siren may be from 1950.

Does anyone when did they introduce the Federal Enterprises name?

It's at least from the 1950s or newer. Earlier model 2s had a four brush motor.

That's funny this one didn't have any brushes!

I got a new set of brushes installed today. Did a quick 120 volt bump which produced a nice growl followed by a longer blast. Now I will need to get out somewhere I can let her rip at 220! It has been 25+ years since I recorded one of the Milwaukee model 2's and it still amazes me on how loud these sirens are.
