The W just meant that the motor starter is in a weatherproof cabinet. The non-W variant isn't weatherproof and usually installed inside a building.
The RC6 (both A and B) were already in a weatherproof cabinet and didn't need the W variant. The RC6 has the motor starter for the siren and the flasher to control the solenoid timing and came in the same size cabinet used for Thunderbolt RCMs.
