Oregon state thunderbolt sirens

Tue Aug 28, 2018 2:52 am

So after doing some digging and thanks to information provided by my fellow state resident Daniel, we have found a few more pole mounted thunderbolts here in Oregon. The quincy fire station thunderbolt is still used as a backup siren although rain got into the blower and froze it. There is also another thunderbolt run by the same fire district at another fire station according to the chief with the same problem. The cool thing though? We have a distributor for Sutorbilt blowers across the river in Vancouver that I recommended they take it to or buy another. The chief seemed to take the suggestion to deep consideration because he believes the siren is the safest form of backup fire calls. (He says he can't always reach volunteer fire fighters with the pagers or radios.) We may have even possibly found another one as well but that's news for later. I will keep you all updated on how these thunderbolts end up doing in the future but for now I am excited to share this news because the northwest isn't particularly known for having active thunderbolts all across the area. Few here and there but hey it's kind of cool I think.

The only 1003 that I know of near portland is the one in stevenson washington. It's still there according to a friend of mine.
