As soon as our 16 new 4004's arrive this siren is going to be replaced. So anyone in this area might want to take some videos of it before its replaced.

What will they do with the Thunderbolt once it is replaced, and when will the new 4004s arrive?

The thunderbolt will most likely be crushed (minus the inner parts) and the 4004's will arrive sometime in september or october.

That is terrible! Is there a chance that any of us could obtain it and restore it? I would love to restore it and have it sit in my apartment for display.

Because the EMA is the one who wants them crushed. I have tried to get one but have failed.

There's actually a long story behind why they crush them. They used to auction them off but I forget what happened that made them turn right to destroying them.

Little drastic one would reckon...

Maybe because the EMA is scared that someone will get it going and create a panic. Guess they don't want to be (partially) liable for it.

They must be paranoid that whoever buys it is going to sound it.

Actually, I think it would be cool to see a siren get crushed.
