Carstairs sirens (UK) - mrmattandmrchay

Hi,

Thought I'd say hello as I'd forgotten about this forum.
I'm currently uploading videos on my youtube channel 'mrmattandmrchay' of the Carstairs "The State Hospital" sirens. There are nine old motorised siren locations around the area of Carstairs (Scotland, UK) consisting of Klaxon CS8 and GP8 and GP12 sirens.
I've also filmed three of them sounding - the last one (Ravenstruther) is EPIC and I cannot wait to upload that one.

I have someone from my channel enquiring about sirens around Hertfordshire, UK. Not sure that there are any, but if anyone here from the UK can name somewhere then please let me know and I'll pass on the message.

Just a quick thanks from me in the South East for your documentations of these sirens. It really helps us and the rest of the world learn about what we in the UK have. It also helps me and others keep the UK siren map alive, which is always a good thing!

I'll check around Hertforshire on Google Earth at some point, but as an aid to any of your future endeavours I'll pop the map link here:

Just a quick thanks from me in the South East for your documentations of these sirens. It really helps us and the rest of the world learn about what we in the UK have. It also helps me and others keep the UK siren map alive, which is always a good thing!

Love that siren map! I looked at the Bampton one, but on street view - couldn't find it. But if you wind the date back a few years, OMG - it's a massive one! (which has obviously been taken down since).
Anyway, that's a really good idea and I might add the link to the map in one of my next videos!

That's great to hear! If you are interested, I'll talk to the map owner and ask if he'll give you permissions to edit the map if you feel like editing things. I for one am quite bogged down with revision so I can't get all locations down as and when they arrive. Right now I'm plotting all the locations of the Severnside flood alert system. Basically on catchup right now because that particular system's been known about for years!
