A few days ago, since I was off from work at the time of the monthly siren test, I decided I'd go and record Jefferson County's test, and then come back up here and record Madison County's test. However, as the weather seemed a bit questionable at best, and due to closing the night before, I accidentally stayed up way to late, I decided to skip Jefferson County's test and just go with Madison County's test. Once I got confirmation from Scott at the EMA that they were testing today, I got on down to this siren to watch him roar. It's a good thing they tested last week too, since this week I have an opening shift on Wednesday that wouldn't let me record any sirens up close.
I left the camera running a while after the siren stopped, as you can just barely see the chopper on the bottom half slowing to a stop. This is the siren that replaced the Grissom High School 2001-AC siren.

While I was set-up at the Sentry 20v2t, I decided to leave my new Panasonic HC-V180 camera at my house to record the ambience. Certainly sounds rather cool with the 20v mixing with the nearby 2001-ACs. I do have a backlog of train videos to post after this though, including my first outing with this particular camera.

Madison County, AL tests on the 1st Wednesday of every month at noon, weather permitting. If the test isn't able to be conducted on the 1st Wednesday, it's then delayed to the 2nd Wednesday of the month at noon, weather permitting.
