If I get the job at our EMA in a few years all the new whelens will sound like this.

Here is the local news coverage of the same siren system( This has been shown before here). These sirens sound awesome! Its funny that they only test these sirens once a year.

Very nice video, it sounds more like a Federal EOWS612 rather than a Whelen WS3016 siren.

Yeah it does, was tempted to post the same reply as some user did on that video. "Just had an interesting question come to mind. Since this is a dual-toned siren and it's electronic, can it play the High/Low signal with alternating dual-tones or only with alternating single tones?"
I bet it can if set right.
It's echo makes it sound quite eerie, yet very unique.

They probably have a custom tone module in them.

I didn't think the 3016's rotated. I agree that this siren sounds a whole lot like a 612.

This is the first Whelen I've ever truly enjoyed listening to. The dual tone makes a WORLD of difference! They should all sound this good!

By memory, almost all (I think all, I could be wrong) directional sirens made by Whelen oscilate rather than rotate as they do not employ the use of slip-rings. Slip-rings (or collector rings and brushes on the Thunderbolt, as an example) allow any rotating device to connect to a power source and maintain a constant 360? motion. Whelens on the other hand, move in a 360? arc, then move back in a 360? arc and repeat the cycle or they will entangle themselves in the cabling.
I agree, the dual tone sounds much much better than the single tones.
