Final Days of Thunderbolt Siren in Philadelphia

Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:34 am

I took these photos of the siren sitting atop an elementary school that is currently being demolished to make way for new construction. It was my very last chance to document it.

It actually seems to be in pretty decent shape, considering how long it's been inactive. Shame to see another Bolt come down, though. Hopefully it ends up at a good home somewhere else, but I'm sure it will likely be scrapped.

Definitely worth hanging around to see when it comes down. Should be entirely savable. Whos behind the tear down?

The city is having the school razed to create an updated facility. I can’t tell which contractor is doing the demolition, but I am of the mind it will most likely end up part of the scrap run.
