This Model M caught my attention a few months back, I finally was able to be the first one to properly photograph it.
For context, this Model M is 12/16 port, only M known with that ratio. There’s only a YouTube video of it sounding in the background for a fire call 15 years ago. The station it sits in served as 2 companies, Bellevue Fire and Columbia Hose. In April 2023, the council voted for Columbia Hose to shut down, disbanding it, people were furious. Bellevue Fire still responds to calls. The 2 companies in one building consisted of volunteers and paid drivers. Someone had to remember when to activate the siren, I guess in the video they remembered. The siren only went off for calls that included Columbia Hose, so of course, the siren was decommissioned. No plans of removal.
Back in March 2025, I asked a policeman there (the station doubles as a PD, at the time I didn’t realize it’s still a fire station,) and he told me to email the police chief. He never responded. I Facebook messaged the old chief to see if he knew someone, nothing. Eventually later, I went back and asked a fireman in there after discovering they still respond to calls there. He confirmed it’s inactive, and I asked to go in the tower the siren is in to take pictures, he said no. He said, “It’s old. I don’t even like going up there, it’s straight upwards.”
However, I did get pictures from a nearby alleyway. I was satisfied with the pictures.
Here’s the only video of it sounding: https://youtu.be/kNdw_lJRtoc?si=WrvJRvP7uP7-E69f
