How Does the ACA Hurricane Work?

Hey gang,

This question has been haunting me ever since I first heard and seen videos about the ACA Hurricane, how do they work? I know they consist of a chopper and a blower, working almost exactly like the Thunderbolt, but my questions and guesses are:

Why does the chopper wind up so quickly? It must either have an extremely powerful chopper motor, or, is the chopper designed to wind up to speed by airflow?

What is the blower's psi (pounds per square inch) rating, as in how much air pressure does it produce and at what speed/velocity does it travel?

Can the Hurricane's rotator RPM level be changed like the Thunderbolt, or is it fixed at 2RPM?

What voltage does the Hurricane run on, single phase 240VAC, or low/high voltage three phase?

If the chopper in the Hurricane has a motor, what is its voltage rating, if the chopper even has a motor, or does it just spin freely as air is applied (as stated in question #1)?

4. Definitely Three Phase.
5. probably 120 volt.

1:it has a very light weight rotor

1. A one-horsepower motor with a small load, which runs on single-phase power (I'm not talking about the blower-motor ) is going to wind up very fast. Then again, one horsepower is a large amount of power itself. Heck, even the blower winds up pretty fast when you listen to some of the videos!

All I know is about the motors.

The blower was 30 horsepower, 450 cfm at 8-10 psi. Twice the volume of the 250 cfm thunderbolt blower.

The chopper motor is a 2 horsepower high slip induction unit. The manual I have has it listed as running on 240 only, but the rotator motor is 115/240

Rotation speed is not adjustable, only setting is 3 RPM in a clockwise direction. A special oscillating feature was available too.

450 cubic feet per minute @ 10 psi.

I don't know if it can be adjusted but the manual says it rotates at 2 1/2 RPMs.

Rotator: 1/4 HP single phase 230 VAC.
Blower: 30 HP 3 phase 208, 230, or 460 VAC.

I believe that was only on the 130, and they did away with that option when the MKII was released (probably because no one ever ordered it).

Yeah the manual I have is for a 130, it has all kinds of bells and whistles, such as solenoids, oscillating features, and the swingdown feature (I thought that was pretty neat).
