A bit off topic but can you put a brake on a 77? Where would you find one? Same one as a Q siren?

IIRC, the 70 series was the smallest in the Federal line available with a brake. The 60 series wasn't. So, if I'm right, the 70, C and Q had the brakes.

anyone know the amperage of the model 77 12 volt? Any specification posted anywhere like db rateing and such?

Is it slow to rev up because a transformer instead of a battery?

Seems like it hardly needs a brake.
Do they ever "brake" such a siren by shorting it's terminals?
(which is like placing a great load on a generator.)

They have to brake this siren with a solenoid brake due to the free spinning rotor.

This siren is a coaster type and has a cluth mechanism that engages when the motor revs up but dissengauges the motor shaft from the rotor when coasting down. This siren coasts for a while but not as long as the Q.

The transformer did not have enough current, 100 amps!!, to properly torque the motor.

8/9 port ratio and produces a whole step 2nd!!!

I haven't got it yet but am very excited!!
