Clay Center NE Erick Video and map of the city

Tue Jul 06, 2010 12:40 am

Saw this posted on YT but not here so I thought I would get it. I also made a map on Google of the sirens I could find in the city. I can't find the Erick Siren and I am pretty sure that there is at least one more XT22 in the town.

Interesting seeing an Erick outside of Minnesota. Most, if not all, videos/pictures I've seen have been in that state. Awesome recording though! It's an awesome sounding siren. The one in Warroad, MN sounds like just this one, but doesn't have those vanes on it. I don't think it's all that loud in person.

Ian, I was about 30 seconds from putting this video on here when I noticed that you beat me. :P

I don't know if he is a member of this board, but he sure has some great videos. He also seems to have one of the only Erick videos out there. 8)

I thought it sounded a lot like an STH-10.

Haha! I don't know if he is either. I might just have to do some research into that. And I agree. He does have some pretty good videos.

They are pretty much the same thing, although the Erick may be quieter because they have no horns while the STH does. But they are both 12 port, so they would sound the same.

(double reply!) I had subscribed to him on YT a while back and so far have not regretted it one bit like I have with a few people. My personal favorites of his is the Central Nebraska Regional Airport 1003 collection, especially in hi-lo.

One of our members here on ARSB has an awesome video of noon whistles that has a video of 2 Erick sirens. Here it is:

:P Yep, that one is mine :P, in one of the Erickson class ones, the town had two sirens, 1 was the old Erickson & its successor a Eclipse*8 (with the controls in the station). I was hopeing that both would sound & I had a 3rd one set up to in an attempt to catch both going off but alas, the Erickson sounded & the Eclipse*8 remained silent.

SubNotes: I had to cut the windowns on some of the vids cause some of them had really looooooooongg windowns & if I hadn't, I would have gone over the 10 Minute limit.
