Eagle Lake, TX Federal model 5 audio.

A couple of years ago I posted pics of Eagle Lake,TX sirens. I finally was able to catch a video (audio only) at the end of a call, It was at 6:10am and woke me up so I had to dig for the camera. The video was taken in my front yard about 1/2 mile from the siren.

EDIT: I was told on youtube that it could actually be the Sterling sounding. The VFD told me the Sterling hasn't worked in years, but I can't verify that. (maybe they meant the model 5) It's rare to hear these sounding, it's taken me 2 years to get this recording.

I do believe it's the Sterling. Fed 5's don't reach that pitch, plus the cycle is slower and the timbre is not Federal quality...for lack of a better term.

Great recording nonetheless.

Edit: The cycle timing can vary greatly among Fed 3/5/7 models, so that's excluded. IMO the other 2 characteristics make my vote the Sterling (M5 most likely).

It's the Sterling, without a doubt. Listen to the lower undertone (rotor noise) in the background. Great recording! There aren't many good quality recordings of these out there.

That's pretty loud for being 1/2 mile away from it. Anyone know what the DB rating on one of these is?

I think I read from some info here that the M-10 is +/-115 dB @ 100' from the source.
