wow, that was actually audible over the sirens too. What happens was, the siren didn't malfunction, the radio did as I heard this over my scanner as well. the activation tones were also choppy and failed to activate the entire system the 1st time. He did it a 2nd time and the voice tones were again choppy and failed to activate anything. 3rd time was the charm, as the tone went out fine and he did the announcment, kind of flustered sounding. Than he attemtpted to activate the system again, and again it was choppy, finally in the 3rd attempt, the otones went out properlly and the 2 2008 sounded as normal as did our 7, and 2. And as he mentioned the 1050hz tone before the announcment is normal.
In the comments to his video, he said that he has heard a Whelen 1000 series before, which was even higher than that.
The recording I heard, which I was recentlly reunited with from the 1st siren contest when Jason posted all those old classic recordings a few weeks ago (Tremont5tt). That made the WS 2008 sound like an STL-10.
Sounds like a dog barking on the message
and I'm sorry but I can't help myself "what's that boy? Timmy's testing the sirens?"

Yeah, I know very cheesy, buy my sleep deprived brain thinks it's funny.
