Re: Thunderbolt Blower Locked UP

What's the make and model of the blower? I know some industrial facilities use the same blowers the Thunderbolts came with, so there might be a teardown manual available somewhere.

Re: Findlay DONE with federal signal??

The city of Findlay, Ohio, had a fire department right next to Bigelow avenue that had a 2001 siren, but I just went there, and now there is a brand new T128 in its place. What happened? And what's with the switch to the T128? And is Findlay, Ohio, switching over to ASC? For good? :?: Perhaps they ...

Re: Thunderbolt Help

I'd check the manual to determine what the power requirements are for the chopper and rotator and design some kind of control setup. I'd do something as simple as an on/off switches controlling relays with whatever electrical is needed for what they're controlling. I'd give the chopper, rotator, and...

Re: Hello again (T1000A restoration)

You'd need quite a bit of juice to run a Thunderbolt blower anyway. I'd think there'd be suitable, less power-hungry alternatives available now.

Re: Hello again (T1000A restoration)

That's a lock washer for a bearing, to be exact a W-02 sized one. You can get them off of EvilBay for a couple of dollars. Oh my gosh - that was a LITTLE lock washer? Maybe next time the OP should have a coin next to it in the picture or something - LOL! It looked bigger to me - I was thinking mayb...

Re: Hello again (T1000A restoration)

Is that a part that can be 3D printed and do what it's supposed to? I'd print that in ABS and treat it with an acetone vapor bath. Otherwise, I think a company like SendCutSend could machine a new one for you. Are you able to make it in CAD?

Re: Hello again (T1000A restoration)

Looks like a fun project! Good look getting those nuts and bolts sorted. 13 years is a long time for a project to sit - I'd probably be seriously bumbling around it myself :D

Re: Denver duplex motor (help)

Are you trying to go for a full restoration? Otherwise any motor with the shaft horsepower will do regardless whether it's single-phase or three-phase. Modern electric motors are more efficient too.

Re: “Twin” Siren Setups

Not sure if this has been posted before but, New York has a few of these… 43.1439024, -77.3460138 I can’t get the photo to work so I posted the cords to one… but, it appears to be a P-15 mounted on top of a 2/3T22. I've driven past that before! That's a pretty neat setup. Ginna has a network of P-1...
