German E57 siren in........ ENGLAND?!

Wed Apr 15, 2015 8:01 pm

Today, I went to Wells-Next-To-The-Sea to search for their tidal warning siren, and guess what I saw? Not a Carter siren, but an Elektor E57! So without further ado, here's some pics:

I think we have a German Model 3 scenario again!

And..... there are MORE in the next coastal village!

_FOOTNOTE_ The pictures are upside-down, even when everything says they're the right way up

Could it be that for a short time some English companies licensed out the E57 design? There's a Croatian manufacturer that has been producing exact copies of the E57.

We have some here in the Pacific Northwest too (only in Washington to my knowledge). It is very likely that this one is used for fire calls or flood warnings. After the war, England probably bought a bunch of them because they are very effective. I like the traditional Carter/Gents/Castle Castings better though.

The only E57 confirmed to be here in the US was one in Crescent City, CA and it has since been replaced with an STH-10.
I also believe that there might be another E57 in Azusa, CA, but I don't think anyone's ever confirmed it.

I am going by this map (I don't know when it was updated but it is missing a few like the Sandy, OR 3t22): https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... 4_7FwANwtA (The Hormanns are supposedly in Oak Harbor, WA.

Those are probably Horrman ECN sirens, which are rather rare here in the US but still common enough that you can find them in various parts of the country.
Their shadows are why I believe that.

Which one do you mean? Washington, or the one I found?

Not that I know of. I believe this 'kit' (control box, fashioned mount, siren) was an Ebay purchase, like the Model 3 in Germany. However, this may not be the only one. I've heard that there's a sort of mini system, so they could be a bulk purchace
