I posted this earlier today in an Aus topic over in the main forum..Captain Dynamite wrote:Interesting. I never expected to see a Whelen all make it all the way to Australia, let alone see one & any siren running in Aus! . This is a treat to see. I am curious if any Federal Signal & American Signal Corporation mechanical sirens have made their way over here to which have not yet being discovered.
I heard that the Sydney "sirens" are Bose PA speakers adapted for Civil Defense use. Actually, in the video at 0:43, you can see one of the setups.Model2 wrote:I posted this earlier today in an Aus topic over in the main forum..Captain Dynamite wrote:Interesting. Where are abouts of the Tsunami warning sirens in Australia?uncommonsense wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2013 3:19 amActually, we have ourselves a Vortex here. Note the Type 1 cabinet. It is of a single construction (note one door for both the battery compartment and the electronics) and the arrangement of the internals doesn't match the current 4000/2900 series cabinets (where there's nothing in front of the amps and the cabinet is elongated.
Better photograph: http://floodforce.com.au/wp-content/upl ... -Siren.jpg (the photo is very high res and wouldn't have fit on here).
Meanwhile, it seems Australia has at least some 2800s floating around for tsunami warnings.
