That is a rather unique setup on that 2001-SRNB. But hey, it sure beats having to install a new mounting bracket and possibly run new wires and all! I wonder if they took the "guts" out of the blower box when they removed it.

Can they use the existing AR/AF Timer in conjunction with the 2001, along with a new motor control and battery box? I'm pretty sure FS still offers the AR timer, so I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm not sure.

That Federal Siren by the Avis lot, used to have a sister many years ago at the top. One of those sirens was a high pitch, while the other was low pitch. Sadly, I have not seen the siren on the top that tower since the early 1970s.

That 2001 looks awesome ontop of the old blower.

I had seen pictures of the siren on the Kay Beard building elsewhere and was considering posting them. Thanks for putting up these much better ones!

500AT: This would make complete sense. I know in the past, several of the downtown businesses complained that the Model 5 was too loud, and that since all the firefighters have pagers, there is no need to run it for fire alerting. However, they wanted a downtown siren for storm warnings. Maybe the FS 2001 being placed at Plymouth Municipal Yard was a compromise?
Yes I agree with you fully on that. The city of Plymouth is quite small, with the larger Plymouth township surrounding it. Correct me if I am wrong but i believe the FS 2001 is the only active siren in the city limits. However botht he city and township currently have a joint fd, called Plymouth Community Fire Department, so I am fairly sure this siren is still activated by the fd along the thunderbolts in the township.

No, it is done by the Plymouth Community (9-1-1) Dispatch Center. They have two tone encoders on their radio consoles. However, their EOC does have an additional encoder as a backup to activate all of the sirens, should the dispatch center be wiped out. Likewise, they can also activate Canton Twp. sirens if their equipment fails.
