My personal experience with the "unlimited everything, $6/month" hosting companies is that they are massively oversold and hard to get in touch with for support. I've used Verio, ValueWeb and other similar services in the past, and wasn't happy with any of them.
Dedicated board providers like Proboards, while customizable, would be an evolutionary step back for this board. Those few of you who were around when Jason had the siren board hosted on such a service may remember how well that went... There is a lot to be said for having total control over your database!
I've been in touch with Adam P. and Jason C. about transferring the board to their control starting in '09. Adam's looking into setting up phpBB right now. A few donations have come in over the last 2 days that has me covered through the end of the year. Thank you to the donors!
That has got to be the best news Ive heard all day! This board is a resource that almost HAS to be kept on the internet as long as possible, as there really isn't that much else geared towards OWS and sirens in general.
Still close enough to a Fed Sig 550AT to drive out on test day: First Friday in May - 7PM!
