I am trying to take apart my SD-10s chopper from the stator to get the motor tested but this weird thing is locking it in there. How do I get it out or how do I get the chopper out? PS sorry the photo is so big.

So am I trying to remove the shaft key or chopper first?Adam Pollak wrote:The little locking thing you are referring to is the shaft key. It makes sure the torque from the motor actually gets transferred to the rotor. It is not doing anything to lock the rotor to the shaft. During the pulling/removal process with the puller it will just fall out.
Remove the shaft key first. Put it in a safe place until you can locate a new one to replace it with. Then pull the chopper assembly.videogamer wrote:So am I trying to remove the shaft key or chopper first?Adam Pollak wrote:The little locking thing you are referring to is the shaft key. How do I take out the shaft key? with plyers? and woble it back and forth?djscrizzle wrote:Remove the shaft key first. Put it in a safe place until you can locate a new one to replace it with. .Adam Pollak wrote:No, do not worry about trying to remove the shaft key at all. During the rotor pulling process, it will come loose on its own. Worst case scenario is it stays put in the shaft keyway and then needs to be wiggled out with a pair of pliers once the rotor is off.
