Oh and here are some other old air raid sirens of NJ.
Model 5

SD-10

Another model 5

Another model 5. NJ seems to be a breeding ground for these.

The first model 5 is found at the South Plainfield VFD. The SD-10 is from the Dunellen Rescue Squad, second model 5 is from the Possumtown FD, and the last model 5 is from a FD in Watchang NJ or some where near there.Rheems1 wrote:Alright, I am at a loss... where are these sirens located at? I thought the one was at the Possumtown Fire Department and another one looks sort of like the Dunellen Rescue Squad (though I didn't think the building was so small). Where are they all from??
Thank you,
Fritz
I have found the first model 5 in Edison on New Durham Rd and its about to fall to the ground. I am guessing due to lack of maintenance the pole rotted and the siren is now propped up against a tree. I wanna ask my town for this model 5 since it does have to come down due to safety reasons unlike the model 2. I'll ask them some day and I hope to get one of them.slant-40 wrote:The model 2 is in Edison, which, at one time, was peppered with them. I remember one on Miko Road and Ashley Road, about a mile away as the crow flies. There were sirens all over the township. And horns (diaphones) too. And there were several model 5/7's too. The street sirens have been disconnected for decades, and may very well have been forgotten.
