If you see this Sterling Vertical in person, it's a lot larger and lower.[/i]
Where exactly is this siren located at? Also, how many ports does it have? I would love to hear a recording of it.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.

That, if I am correct (and mostly when it comes to this stuff I am), is the fire siren for the Ohio Township Fire Department in Mount Nebo, Pa. I shot the apparatus of Ohio Township 2 years ago and got to hear this siren when they had a call (although it was hard to hear over their Model 2). It is a 16 port siren and is not right at the firehouse but about a half mile or so away by a cemetary (and church)

Here is a very low-mounted STH-10 in Walterville, Oregon, a few miles east of Eugene.

That is very low! Notice the platform on the two poles up there?

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but the shop built sirens in Colerain Township are mounted very low!

Not the lowest, but WAY too low for a huge Whelen like that--heck, any omnidirectional siren that is so loud.

Not the lowest, but again, pretty low for a big Whelen.

Pictures of that siren (including one in that gallery) have been floating around here for some time (even earlier in this thread). I think the other angles give an even better perspective of how absurdly low that thing is.
In the first link of the Omni Whelen, is that in Vancouver Island? I never knew Vancouver or Canada had Whelen's.

Dang, I like the custom horn. But I'd hate to be playing basketball near that thing when the FD got a call.
