There don't seem to be too many t-bolts left in Columbus. I specifically remember two on the west side - one was at Eureka and Sullivant Aves and the other in a church parking lot on Demorest about halfway between Briggs and Clime Rds.
The siren at Eureka and Sullivant must have been installed between 1971 and 1974, because I lived near Richardson and Sullivant (only two blocks away) from 1969 to 1971 and could never remember hearing the siren go off that close. But by 1974, we had returned to the west side, living on Roys Ave near Mound St (about 11 blocks west) and I clearly remember the siren blaring during the bad tornado outbreak on April 3 that year.
There was once a t-bolt atop a grain elevator near the intersection of Georgesville Rd and Sullivant, but that seems to have rusted away, replaced by a Whelen at the fire station near that corner.
There is what looks to be a small yellow siren atop an old firehouse on West Broad near Cypress, in the Franklinton area. It used to be on the south side of Broad between Dakota and Avondale back in the 70s.
There is a t-bolt in the parking lot of St Christopher Church on Grandview Avenue between 3rd and 5th.
There is also a t-bolt painted gray at the corner of James Rd and Main Street on the east side.
Are there any more t-bolts left in Columbus? I haven't been home in two years - have these been replaced?
Thanks!
