Maybe the motor burned out or the power is shut off to it.

The guy in the news story (Ed BUNS??) said "they still do a good job, they're just not the technology we have today". In other words....the HOR works fine, it's just not "NEW".

When someone says that about a siren system I now reply against it with three words: Upson County Georgia

Nobody will. very time a "rare" siren comes up for this debate, nobody ever goes through with it, because either they forget about it, or the city thinks it's worth its weight in gold.

The new sirens in Hamilton will be 508s, not 2001s. See http://www.journal-news.com/news/news/h ... -sy/nfyGZ/ for more details.

Best part:
Federal Signal Ohio manufacturers representative Craig Huth, who has worked closely with the city of Hamilton for years on their warning signal system and was involved in writing the grant, said that the new sirens will cover a much bigger range of area than the city’s older models. “The new sirens are Model 508, whose coverage at 70 dBc (decibels relative to the carrier, or the strength of a signal at radio frequency) is 7,300 feet,” he said. The older sirens probably had about half to a third of the coverage, he added.
Either way, it makes no sense to have a 2001 and 3 508s to cover 22 square miles. If they think people can't hear the sirens now, just wait until the new ones get installed...

Well, there goes anyone else with hopes and dreams of getting it.

What did you talk about? Is he going to try to get it?
