CLM under full power

After a bit of a digital camera learning process, I was able (I think) to upload a couple of CLM test videos. The siren is 220v 3phase, and is running off of a welder plug at the shop. Attack is by manually switching on/off at the power box. Test 1 was filmed by a co-worker on a hand held camera as ...

Re: Amazing Antique Store Find *Rare*

There are a couple of photos of the Denver taken last year here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/oy-ving/ I will be at the museum later this week, and can get some new photos of it cleaned up a bit. The motor may not be original (we think it was 32v DC to start with) but is what powered it when it was ...

Re: Amazing Antique Store Find *Rare*

Nice Score. I wish there were some like that to be found in my area. On Sept 11th, I spooled my big "Blues Brothers" CLM up for the opening of the local museum's EMO display. Had the tripod set up with the camera to record it, but ended up with one still photo instead of any video. Got the...

I bought the CLM in 1995, and believe they were taken down earlier that year, or in the later months of 1994.

The CLM came from a surplus dealer in Saskatoon who got all of that city's sirens when they were decommissioned around 1995. Jiffy marker lettering on the top said "Pleasant Hill", so I would guess that was the area of the city it came from. I do not remember that site, but used to drive p...

OK, so that first try at picture posting didn't seem to work..... Well, just look up "Oy-ving" on flickr and you should be able to see all of the siren pics that were uploaded. (I Think...)

I zoomed in on the photos above (ctrl++++++), and that is the type of rotary intake screen I was referring to. If you look closely in the first picture, the drive blades or "fins" as I called them, are visible on the bottom section of the screen. The centre axle pipe is visible, and the sp...

It is 3 phase, 220 volt, so it will run on some of the plugs at work. I don't have any digital photos, but can take a few when I go to the shop. Not sure how to post pictures on line though. (I guess that puts me in the 'dinosaur' category??)

The CLM Still Works Fine

The local museum is puting on a "cold War" display for their next exibition, and one of the staff wants me to bring in the big CLM siren so they can have it in the display. I brought it in from the farm Saturday evening, and hooked it up at the shop yesterday. We did a couple of "test...
